We know it is difficult to be without water and sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. Here are some things you can do to minimize the inconvenience of planned outages:
- Fill the bathtub and keep a bucket nearby so you have water for flushing the toilet.
- Fill bottles/other containers and refrigerate them for drinking and cooking.
- Fill the kitchen sink or dishpan with sudsy water so you can wash your hands, rinse dishes, etc.
- Water plants and do laundry the day before.
- Reschedule any pool maintenance or home improvement projects.
- Follow manufacturer instructions for equipment such as swamp coolers and heat exchanges. Air conditioning units should not be affected.
After water is restored, we recommend you turn on a cold water tap (preferably an outdoor line or a bathtub) and let it run for 5–10 minutes or until the water runs clear. This helps flush out any air, sediment or cloudy water in your plumbing system.
