American Canyon Cautions Residents About Unauthorized Water Testers

City officials have issued an alert regarding individuals falsely representing themselves as City employees while conducting door-to-door water testing.

Multiple residents have reported encounters with salespeople who give the impression they are affiliated with the City of American Canyon while attempting to gain access to homes for alleged water quality tests.

"These individuals are not employed by or affiliated with the City," said City Manager Jason Holley. "Our maintenance employees always wear clearly marked City uniforms and carry proper identification. Furthermore, our staff does not conduct residential water tests that require entering homes."

The City reminds residents that all legitimate City employees:

  • Wear official City of American Canyon uniforms with visible logos
  • Carry government-issued identification
  • Do not solicit or request entry to homes for water testing

Residents who encounter suspicious individuals claiming to represent the City are encouraged to contact our Utilities team at (707) 647-4364 to confirm their identity or local law authorities at (707) 253-4451 to report individuals who are falsely presenting as City employees.
