The City of American Canyon’s Public Art Program is committed to enhancing the community by providing opportunities for public exposure to the visual arts, acknowledging our local artistic community, and inspiring pride, identity, and a sense of place within the community.
“Public Art” is defined as artwork located in a public place on public property or on land owned by the City of American Canyon. The Program encourages the broadest possible range of expression, media, and materials. The Public Art Program is funded by endowments, bequests, grants and donations.
Although not a part of the Public Art Program itself, the City encourages other forms of artwork expression, such as artwork installations on private property, and temporary artwork prepared through community spirit activities and not a “recognized artist” (as defined by the Public Art Program Resolution).
